Dear Sir Ernest,
You will remember speaking to me just after the Memorial Service about the enclosed letter from Mr. Lane. The difficulty is that owing to the scarcity of passenger accommodation the Crown Agents are allotted a number of passages by the Ministry of Shipping on the express condition that these are used exclusively for Officers and not for their wives. The Crown Agents are in correspondence with Mr. Lane and I am afraid there is nothing further that we can do in the matter though we quite realize the hardship which is involved if Mrs. Lane is kept waiting for some time.
Yours sincerely,
H.C.T
